Discover nel-drip coffee,
meticulously brewed from beans roasted over Yanbaru charcoal.

Using charcoal made from wood grown in the Yanbaru forests of northern Okinawa, Ryukyu World’s Urasoe main shop is dedicated to charcoal roasting and nel-drip brewing. The far-infrared heat of the charcoal warms each coffee bean to the core, and careful extraction through a flannel filter draws out the beans’ natural flavor, creating a clean, clear cup with no unwanted bitterness.

One of their signature drinks, the “W Espresso Latte,” combines rich milk with a deep, full-bodied espresso that blends gently on the tongue. It has a satisfyingly sweet taste even without syrup, making it a truly indulgent latte. (It is also excellent served over ice.)

Another standout is the “Non-alcohol Coffee,” made by soaking coffee beans in brandy, then charcoal roasting them to burn off the alcohol while leaving only the aroma. Mixed with soda, it has the body and foam of a dark beer. With a depth of flavor you would never expect from a non-alcoholic drink, it’s the kind of cup that makes coffee lovers pause in surprise.

Charcoal roasting creates a rich aroma and long, mellow finish that gas flames simply cannot reproduce. If you want to experience truly great coffee in Okinawa, this is a shop well worth seeking out.
