With its colorful, pop-style interior and creative sweets made from local ingredients, Richamocha Café is a charming spot full of surprises. Kin Town’s specialty, taimo (a type of taro unique to Okinawa), is adored by locals. Similar to regular taro yet distinct in flavor and texture, it’s reimagined here in playful and delicious desserts.

The café’s signature treat is called Muru Taimu. In Okinawan dialect, “muru” means “all,” while “taimu” is “taimo.” As the name suggests, it’s a sweet that brings together the full essence of taimo. Topped with taimo dengaku (savory, sweet miso paste), taimo skin chips, mascarpone, and brown sugar syrup, this indulgent shaved ice dessert is creaive and bursting with flavor.

Don’t miss the taimo tart, aptly named “Tarot,” also available in-store.

Kin Town is blessed with abundant natural spring water, including the famous “Kin Ōkawa,” known as the “Fountain of Longevity.” The mangrove forests along the Okukubi River are popular for nature walks, canoeing, and birdwatching. The town is also widely known as the birthplace of Okinawa’s soul food, taco rice. Many restaurants serve it here, offering the chance to taste this authentic local dish.
