Higashi Village is proud to be Japan’s top pineapple-producer, and this roadside station is its gateway. From April to October, you’ll find a wide variety of pineapples on display. Because pineapples don’t ripen after harvest, they are best enjoyed freshly picked, their juicy sweetness and rich aroma are unlike anywhere else.

沖縄が誇る「日本一のパイン生産地」、東村の玄関口にある道の駅。 4月～10月には、様々な種類のパインが並びます。追熟しないパインは採れたてが一番おいしく、ここでしか味わえない、みずみずしい甘さと豊かな香りのパインをここで入手したい。

If you’re lucky, you might even get a free tasting, making it fun to choose your favorite one to take home. You can cut and enjoy it at your lodging, or grab a refreshing “Frozen Pineapple Treat” right at the shop.

運が良ければ試食もでき、お気に入りの一玉を見つけるのも楽しい時間。購入して宿泊先でカットして味わうのも良し、店内で手頃なパインフローズンを購入して休憩するのも良し。

There’s also a great selection of pineapple-based processed treats, perfect for souvenirs. Other recommended items include high-quality shiitake mushrooms, and “Yanbaru no Mori Natural Spring Water,” soft water filtered through the lush Yanbaru Forest.
